黄炎培职业教育格言选译（一）

吾国最重要最困难问题，莫过于生计。根本解决，惟有从教育下手，进而谋职业之改善。同人认此为救国家救社会唯一方法，矢愿相与始终也。——（原载《教育杂志》第九卷第7号，1917年）

Currently,the most important and difficult problem in our country is no other than livelihood.The foundmental solution to this problem is to start from education and then strive to improve the vocation.We colleagues hold that this is the sole method to save the country and the society,and we swear to implement it from beginning to the very end.

（职业教育之）目的：一为谋个性之发展；二为个人谋生之准备；三为个人服务社会之准备；四为国家及世界增进生产力之准备。——（原载《教育与职业》第154期，1934年4月1日）

The purpose (of vocational education )is : firstly,to pursue the individual development;secondly,to prepare for the individual livelihood;thirdly,to prepare the individual to serve the society; and fourthly,to prepare the nation and the world to improve productivity.

职业教育应做学合一，理论与实习并行，知识与技能并重。如只重书本知识不去实地地参加工作，是知而不能行，不是真知。职业教育目的乃在养成实际的、有效的生产能力。欲达到此种境地，须手脑并用。

Vocational education should unite doing and learning, combine theory with practice ,and pay equal heed to knowledge and skill. If merely learning things from books without putting them into practice, is knowing much and doing little , not true knowledge.
